Hello from the U.S. Virgin Islands!!!
So many people have asked me about Chase and I's trip that I thought I'd give you a quick blog!
Our week was absolutely wonderful! I honestly couldn't have imagined anything better! After traveling to St. Thomas on a cruise in 2016, and taking a boat to St. John for the day, I knew that I wanted to come back to visit the island for a longer stay. Chase and I made that reality two years later! WOW, are we so excited that we did. St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands is on the top of our list. We took a few minutes to debrief on our trip and here's what we came up with:
Reasons you Must Visit St. John, USVI
1. The island is absolutely STUNNING!!! Now, if you follow me at all, you know that I've been/seen a lot of places....this island doesn't even compare!
2. There's something for everyone. If you like the beach, the options are unlimited...beaches are everywhere! If you like to relax by the pool, just make sure you rent a villa that has a pool and you are set! If you like to hike, you can find tons of different trails long and short! Boating is an option, snorkeling, scuba diving, you name it, they probably offer it or you can find something that fits your style.
3. The views! Holy cow....(nope, you won't see any cows on this island...) This island has views for days!!!
4. The island is easy to get around. Once you get used to driving on the left side (which I feel like is actually the right way to drive...Chase disagrees) it is very easy to get around. Cruz Bay is the most popular "town" on the island followed by Coral Bay, which was much more effected by the hurricanes, Irma & Maria, in 2017. The "towns" are on opposite sides of the island, however, it takes approximately 20 minutes to drive between the two.
5. Snorkeling!!! If you like to snorkel, this island is for you. Not the prettiest snorkeling that we've ever seen, but it's everywhere. Just take your snorkel to the beach and have at it! If you don't own a snorkel, you can rent on the island for the week/day/days/etc. (more on that in the future)
6. No need for a passport!!! The U.S. Virgin Islands are a territory of the United States...so you don't need a passport to enter into the country. What is better than that?!?!
7. Island hopping! This is something I personally love...St. Thomas, St. Croix and Water Island are so close that you can just hop over for the day. If you do have a passport, you can visit the British Virgin Islands as well. We chose to do this on the trip and it was a blast! More info on Day 3.
8. The Donkeys!!! Enough Said!
9. The hurricanes of 2017 really did some major damage to their island. They need as much of our support as possible! Cruz Bay seems to be recovering better, however, Coral Bay was much more effected.
So! If you haven't noticed, we absolutely loved our vacation...and Chase even said that we have to come back...so you know it was great :)
Stay tuned for more details, I'll post a day by day itinerary for those of you who have asked!
