St. John, USVI - Day 2

Wow! It's been a while since I've been able to blog. A lot has happened in Chase and I's lives over the past three months! We welcomed baby Leighton into the world and as I'm sitting down to blog, I was reminded that he took this journey with us, as I was pregnant during our vacation to the USVI.

The weather here in the Midwest has been pretty crappy and I want to give a shoutout to @corntocaribbean because looking at her Instagram stories/posts has inspired me to share more about this lovely island! Not really sure how we became friends on Instagram, but if you are wanting to know about the island or just want some beautiful inspiration in your day, follow her! She's from the Midwest and her and her husband moved to St. John. Wow! I just absolutely love looking at her posts, as it makes me feel like I am there!

Day 2 was our adventure day. We knew that we wanted to get up and explore the island. We headed into Cruz Bay and found ourselves in Mongoose Junction. It's a lovely little shopping center where you can find all sorts of shops. We grabbed lunch to go at Northshore Deli @northshoredeli and rented snorkeling gear for the week from Just Beach @justbeachstj From there we had planned to explore the North Shore beaches, but had to take a detour back to our villa. We ended up taking Centerpoint Road to Coral Bay and decided that we would check out Salt Pond Bay for the day.

We were so glad that we did! Salt Pond was pretty neat! It was on the south side of the island. We parked, walked down (probably about half a mile down to the beach) and found ourselves being one of three couples in the bay. Holy cow! How cool! We took some time to snorkel out around the reef and saw some pretty neat fish, an octopus, and a lot of coral. I wish I had done more research prior to visiting Salt Pond because it wasn't until after we had left that I realized there's literally a salt pond just up behind the brush of the bay. We had no idea! This is also where lots of people go to hike Ram Head. We weren't able to do this (I didn't do a lot of hiking since I was pregnant) during our first visit, but we definitely plan to the next time we visit!

While we were on the Coral Bay side of the island, we decided to eat at the famous Skinny Legs Bar & Grill. It did not disappoint. What a cool atmosphere! Chase got a burger and I got the chili...both hit the spot after a long day!
